Currently, Roxy Foundation has successfully completed the first phase of our ECIC library renovation project, and I am thrilled to share our progress. In this phase, our primary focus was on cleaning the library’s book collection and improving the air quality within the space. The library had suffered from years of neglect, with books covered in dust and mold and the air damp and uninviting.

During this phase, we carefully removed and organized hundreds of books, ensuring they were cleaned and preserved. Our team worked tirelessly to sort the collection, creating a more accessible and functional system for future use. We also took measures to refresh the air, making the library environment healthier and more comfortable for volunteers who are the only ones allowed to enter.

The photos below show volunteers in action, diligently handling books and reorganizing the space. From sorting piles of books to ensuring every corner of the library was addressed, this phase has laid a strong foundation for the next steps in the project. The once chaotic and damp environment is now on its way to becoming a vibrant and welcoming space for learning and exploration.

• July, 2024, the plan of renovating is settled

• August, 2024, the fundraising is initiated

• September,2024–January,2025, the books are cleaned out, classified, and recorded in our system

• January–May, 2025, all books are carefully wiped and treated with anti-mold coating

• February, 2025, we cleaned moldy walls and rebuilt some of them using wooden planks

• Late June, 2025, the library was thoroughly cleaned and reopened to the public, with improved ventilation

• Late June, 2025, the library became part of the campus open day and the location for the 2025 school promo video shoot

Our vision of creating an inspiring and resourceful library for the ECIC campus is becoming a reality, one step at a time. We appreciate all the support we’ve received so far and look forward to continuing this journey.
